Fandom: BBC Sherlock
Summary: Moriarty's return has only granted Sherlock a temporary reprieve from punishment over his actions regarding Magnussen, and when a mission involving Sebastian Moran crosses Mycroft's desk it seems to be the perfect way for Sherlock to pay his penance. This particular mission requires Sherlock to have a paramour, however, but Mycroft has that taken care of in the form of Molly. What begins as a ruse to fool Moran slowly becomes something more real, though, and as this mission takes Sherlock and Molly across the globe chasing after a ghost he begins to realize that there is much more that he can lose this time if he makes another wrong decision.
Warnings: Mild non-graphic violence, language
Characters: Sherlock Holmes, Mycroft Holmes, Molly Hooper, Anthea & Sebastian Moran
Pairings: Sherlock Holmes/Molly Hooper
When I Started: June 24th, 2015
How I Lost My Shit: I think I was a tad overambitious when I started plotting out the end game after Prague and it scared me.
How I Finished My Shit: Panic & pride. Once I finished “No More Regrets” I took a good hard look at what else I could finish, and as I’d written four scattered chapters towards the end I decided this would be fic number 2. I managed to write the five chapters I needed to write all in one day, actually, and I think the story turned out well by ending the adventure in Washington DC as opposed to going further with it.
Fandom: BBC Sherlock
Summary: John enlists Molly’s help to cheer Sherlock up when Sherlock is down in the dumps about getting bad marks before the end of term, which means going home and facing his parents. Molly has the idea of a scavenger hunt to put Sherlock’s big, beautiful brain to use, but nothing goes right when what is supposed to be a private thing amongst a few friends becomes a campus-wide event. Will it all end happily ever after or will everything be worse off than they were before
Warnings: Mild language
Characters: Molly Hooper, John Watson, Mary Morstan, Sherlock Holmes, Greg Lestrade, James Moriarty & Sally Donovan
Pairings: Sherlock Holmes/Molly Hooper & John Watson/Mary Morstan
When I Started: July 13th, 2016
How I Lost My Shit: For some reason I just couldn’t bring myself to write this particular college AU and ended up writing a bunch of other ones instead.
How I Finished My Shit: After falling asleep for almost an entire 48 hours because of chronic illness, I woke up the evening of the day before my first finished fic in this new batch went up and was all “What else can I finish to post on the 21st?” Five chapters and six hours later, I was done with this story. It’s shorter than I had planned, but I rather like it anyway.
Fandom: BBC Sherlock
Summary: Molly Hooper prefers a life limited to her teaching at King's College, the occasional consult for Scotland Yard and evenings with her cat and a good book, but her best mates think she should expand her horizons. On one of their regular "Let's get Molly a social life" nights, Molly meets a man who saves her from a sticky situation, but before she can get to know this Sherlock fellow any better she has to leave the pub. She thinks it's a fleeting "what might have been" moment, but Sherlock has other ideas about that.
Warnings: Mild non-graphic violence
Characters: Molly Hooper, Sherlock Holmes, Mary Morstan, Sally Donovan, John Watson, Greg Lestrade, Irene Adler, James Moriarty, Stella Hopkins & OMCs
Pairings: Sherlock Holmes/Molly Hooper, John Watson/Mary Morstan, Greg Lestrade/Sally Donovan
When I Started: May 19th, 2015
How I Lost My Shit: I actually had this plotted out once I hit chapter 19, and it seemed as though no matter what I did I couldn’t bring myself to write chapter 22. So that began the long hiatus for this fic.
How I Finished My Shit: Panic & pride. I have had the hell of a last few months (seriously, I think I’m cursed) and the closer the deadline got for the five days I had claimed where I had no new fics to show for it, I decided screw everything else, I was going to write and try and finish as many as I could. This was the first one I was able to finish, and it got a pretty good reception, so I was glad it ended up making people happy.

Link(s): at Ao3 (recommended); at FF.net
Summary: When Yona and her friends need shelter for the winter, Kija insists on bringing them to White Dragon Village for a traditional solstice festival honoring his ancestors. The ritual brings messages from the world of the dead, including a visit from the most honored white dragon ancestor of all — but what begins as a joyous meeting threatens to become a tragedy.
Warnings: Heavy Angst, Possible Character Death, Canonical Character Death, brief but intense violence
Characters: Kija, Ensemble, special appearance by Guen
When I Started: Not so long ago, only the beginning of this year. This grew out from my 2016 Yuletide story.
How I Lost My Shit: I don't remember if I did before signing up for the bang, although I did write a few other stories so it must have been back-burnered. Mostly, though, there were things I found challenging about this story so that I just knew I'd have trouble finishing it without some formal commitment. Embarassingly, I actually did lose my shit after posting had started; I went out of town for a weeklong family visit and really slacked off after I got back.
How I Finished My Shit: Sheer determination, but tempered with nonperfectionism. My completely-truthful mantra for this story was "I want to do this one no matter how messy it turns out. Also setting a bunch of personal deadlines way in advance of the actual deadline was helpful --- of course I ended up blowing through all of those, but each one pushed me to get a bit more done. ^_^;
And now it's finished! My beautiful rambly angsty hurty baby! I'm so proud!
Many thanks to my artist, too!
Story Title: In the Cold Dark Night
Link: on AO3 (and check out the art by sandy79)
Summary: Phil's whole life changed the night he was attacked by a vampire and became a creature of the night. It's about to change again.
Warnings: Mild violence
Characters: Phil Coulson, Clint Barton, with appearances by Nick Fury, Melinda May, John Garrett, Natasha Romanov, Antoine Triplett, Steve Rogers, Sam Wilson, Bucky Barnes
Pairings: Clint Barton/Phil Coulson (pre-slash)
When I Started**: I wrote the first chapter for the Clint/Coulson 2015 Holiday Exchange.
How I Lost My Shit**: I always intended to continue the story, but other projects were higher on my list. No deadline equals no writing being done by me.
How I Finished My Shit**: I almost didn't. Severe self-doubt and another fandom love really hampered my writing. Having a deadline and just finally powering through helped me to finish. At least I didn’t have technological troubles like I did the last two years.

A huge thank you to RoryChaze for the inspiration, and for sharing my love of the series ^_^ And thank you to the people running the WIPBigBang, I'm really happy I got this chance to participate with my art!

Fandom: Les Miserables
Summary: After Javert is assigned to discover a blackmailer within a public-house that caters to men who prefer other men, Valjean is unexpectedly drawn into the case. Together they must stop the blackmailer before any lives can be ruined...including their own.
Characters: Javert, Valjean, Cosette
When I Started: Uh, sometime in 2013-2014ish?
How I Lost My Shit: Les Mis fandom turned toxic for a while there and I wandered off to other fandoms. Also I moved to a new city and a new career, which was (and still is) pretty time-consuming!
How I Finished My Shit I finally just sat down and made myself get off Tumblr and write. Approximately 23,000 words later, I finally finished the fic!

Summary: Zhenya signs the papers for his minor league contract three weeks before his seventeenth birthday and waits for his visa to arrive.
And waits, until finally, it arrives, just in time for the 2003 baseball season to end.
A baseball AU.
Characters: Evgeni Malkin, Sidney Crosby,
Pairings: Sidney Crosby/Evgeni Malkin
When I Started: January 2015
How I Lost My Shit: I just. I love baseball a lot and I love this pairing and I wanted it to be perfect. It started out very differently, but I knew how it ended.
How I Finished My Shit: Through a lot of toil and tears. I literally have five different versions of the story in my drafts folder, because I'd get stuck or change something and have to do major rewrites and starting over was easier than editing my current draft. I probably cut almost 10k from the original plot,
and I was editing right up until posting. But it's done now! And I'm pretty happy with it.
Fandom: Avengers Academy (game)
Summary: Loki is simultaneously too prideful and too insecure to be a good co-conspirator, but that doesn't mean Amora can't find a use for him--as long as she can make sure he's on her side. Unfortunately for her, the other students may have already beaten her to it. (Aside from the title, this has exactly nothing to do with My Little Pony. I just realized it was appropriate and then couldn't resist.)
Warnings: emotional manipulation, some blood, references to medical experimentation
Characters: Loki, Amora the Enchantress, Hank Pym, Tony Stark, Janet van Dyne, Kamala Khan; mentions of other characters
Pairings: potentially Loki/Natasha if you squint, but otherwise gen
When I Started: Probably a couple months after the game itself started, so...I dunno, a little over a year ago? The sad thing is that really isn't bad for my WIPs. (On the other hand, this was supposed to be relatively short.)
How I Lost My Shit: I feel like this story's been almost finished for ages, but then every time I would go back and try to finish it, I'd realize I had more to do than I thought, and I keep having too many other things to focus on because of deadlines, so this kept getting pushed down the priority list. Plus the longer I went without finishing it, the weirder I felt about it, because there have been about a million events since then with tons of new characters and various plot developments, when my story was still basically stuck in the Before Times when nearly all we had was the main storyline. (Hahaha, main storyline, remember when we had that?)
How I Finished My Shit: Despite the above, this fic's been a little higher on my priority list than others because it's for a type of mobile game that doesn't have a hugely long life expectancy to begin with, and various developments (mostly, events that increasingly push players to spend huge amounts of money, and players' frustration with that shift) made me realize I really, really needed to get my fic posted before the already-small fandom imploded and/or the game itself went away. WIP Big Bang was the final push I needed to do that.
Story Title:Up in the Air, Junior Birdman
Link(s): Work on AO3 http://archiveofourown.org/works/
Links to art from handypolymath , and then it sat and yelled at me because I kept ignoring it. And then we acquired a baby and finishing anything was just a hilarious exercise in frustration.
How I Finished My Shit:
Not finishing things was starting to make me feel like a failure (as opposed to normal when I just kind of feel bad and get over it). When the opportunity for the WIP Big Bang arose, this piece seemed doable (and was one of the few solo things I was working on that had enough written to really seem like a piece with a story, not just vague notes and mindless boning). I signed up, bullied handypolymath into signing up with me to keep me on track and the delightful red_b_rackham signed up to create art. Which she did, so swiftly and skillfully that I knew I'd be an asshole if I didn't finish.
Between the two of them, I managed to eke out a story, and if it is at all coherent, it's because of the two of them.
Even if I couldn't get the assholes in story to kiss.

Characters: Minerva McGonagall, Horace Slughorn, Madam Pomfrey; Montgomery Scott; original characters
Pairings:Harry Potter/Ron Weasley; James T. Kirk/Leonard McCoy
When I Started: Sometime in 2011
How I Lost My Shit:I intended to write this for the 2011 Star Trek Big Bang on LJ. I got into it and thought I would not hit the 10K word minimum count, so I bailed. I’ve been working on it, off and on, ever since.
How I Finished My Shit: Thank you wipbigbang!! For providing the opportunity for me to finish this fic.

Story Title: Hooded in Red
Sherlock is dead, but he isn't really. Molly Hooper is the only one of his old friends to still be in contact with him in hiding. The only link back to his old life, and now that link is in danger of being cut.
A story based on the tale of Little Red Riding Hood written for the Let's Write Sherlock: Challenge 2 on Tumblr and AO3
Completed for the WIP Big Bang 2017
Warnings: Some Violence
Characters: Molly Hooper, Sherlock Holmes, Greg Lestrade
Pairings: Molly Hooper/Sherlock Holmes, Molly Hooper/Original Male Character, Mostly Gen
When I Started: 7/15/2013 - Yes, over four years ago
How I Lost My Story:
The time was during the GREAT HIATUS right after Sherlock fell from the roof of Bart's Hospital and was thought to be dead. We knew that he was alive, but not what had happened to him. I planned to write about how Moriarty had to be bigger than just one man if it could threaten John from beyond the grave. Since Molly was the only one that we were certain knew that Sherlock was alive, she had to be in the story.
My push came when there was a fairy tale fic challenge. I realized that Molly would make a great Little Red Riding Hood, and so I wrote the story about her and the wolf. The problem was, how do I describe all of the machinations of Moriarty's empire. It was too big, and too complicated, so the story trailed away and died.
How I Finished My Story:
This was not easy to finish! At the end, I was changing plot points every day. I finally got it done by simplifying the plot. One point of view character instead of three. Drop the police subplot, and just mention it at the end. Find a motivation for Molly's character and cut out anything that does not advance that arc.
When I finished it, it was really stilted and hard to read. I had to open a new window, and retype the entire story to make it flow well. I was reediting sentences up until the minute of posting, and still must have lots of typos. I could not find a beta.
Even so, I am pleased with the work. I pushed through, and completed it. The story works. It still fits in canon, and I was able to link it to my current Season 4 fics by adding details that I could not have known at the time that I started it. It is a great relief to have finished it. Cheers all. Please give me comments if you can.
Patricia Tepes was totally awesome in making me exactly the art I wanted in a time frame that frankly, I didn't deserve. I loved everything she made, and she deserves heaps of Kudoes.
Fandom: Star : Star Trek: Original Series (Mirror Universe)
Summary: As Jim's underboss, Spock follows his every order, including those in the bedroom. He is resigned that Jim only treats him as a friend with benefit, because it is the closest to what he wants from Jim. However, as they shared days and nights of passion, Spock begins to wonder if he has more than he realizes. (Fantasy mob AU)
Warnings some violence, kinky sex
Characters: Mirror!Kirk, Mirror!Spock
When I Started: This fic has begun as I wrote a ~1k PWP one-shot with magical sex toys and started wanting to know how they got together in this fantasy universe. I've finished another prequel about the first time they acknowlege the sexual attraction and had sex, but I'm not satisfied with where I left them, and I love friends with benefit turned lover trope.
How I Lost My Shit: I generally have trouble with getting my characters to fuck like bunnies, and I'm not good at consistent world building, so I torture myself second guessing every details
How I Finished My Shit I'm glad that I've discovered wipbigbang, which gave me a deadline as motivation. My beta Liviania is excellent as she patiently worked with me on my fic.
Link(s): On AO3
Summary: Natasha, Nick and Tony go on a mission to rescue Bruce after AoU, and are de-aged to adolescence. A story of four genius misfit loners sticking it to The Man and occasionally to each other, settling scores, and finding themselves. The real adventure is the friends they make along the way. And the evil scientists. And the thugs with tasers. And also that shark.
Warnings: teenage sexuality (kinda)
Characters: Natasha Romanoff, Nick Fury, Bruce Banner, Tony Stark, Pepper Potts, James 'Rhodey' Rhodes, Maria Hill, Laura Barton, Steve Rogers, Helen Cho, Sam Wilson, Thor Odinson, Clint Barton
Pairings: Natasha/Bruce, Natasha/Nick, Tony/Bruce, Tony/Nick/Natasha/Bruce
When I Started: My writing partner Thassalia gave me the teenager prompt in Sept 2015, but I couldn't get a handle on it. Then in Aug 2016 she shared the handful of pages she'd started, the scene with Pepper and Rhodey, the scene of Steve looking at the teenaged Nick, Tony, Nat and Bruce--and it clicked, I could see where it could go. I started making a soundtrack, I had it bad.
How I Lost My Shit: Within weeks of sharing the file, real life sidelined Thassalia (she became a parent! Yay!) and I inherited the teenagers.
How I Finished My Shit: These crazy kids wouldn't stop pestering me, but I've got several WIPs fighting for bandwidth. The looming deadline gave me an excuse to focus on just this one until it was done. Seventy-five pages later, it's been a rough puberty, but I think we all made it out alive.

Summary The Holmes brothers come from a long line of powerful magic practitioners, but they are forced to keep their skills a secret. When Molly accidentally finds out about Sherlock’s powers and doesn’t turn away from him he slowly realizes that this pleases him, but soon enough he gets careless and is put in a position he would rather not be in, especially when others find out that she knows and attempt to use her as a pawn in their own games and machinations.
Warnings Mentions of attempted torture
Characters Sherlock Holmes, Mycroft Holmes, Molly Hooper, James Moriarty
Pairings None, though hints at possible Sherlock Holmes/Molly Hooper should there be a sequel
When I Started November 5th, 2015
How I Lost My Shit I kept getting stuck on this story soooo many times, as it was a commission that I had trouble with because of the magic elements (and the fact that Tumblr locked me out of my inbox for a year where the commission details were).
How I Finished My Shit I almost didn't. The past few months have been absolute hell and I literally did not write the last chapter or epilogue until last night, and I just posted the epilogue twenty minutes ago. My life has been full of health complications that almost kept me from finishing but I was bound and determined to finish because of the beautiful art I had been given (seriously, it's stunning) and because this was a commission that deserved to be finished.

Summary: After his reanimation, Tony has yet to find a reason to continue his existence that isn’t hatred or bitterness. After decades of captivity in Arcadia, Steve doesn’t know if he even has a soul anymore. When the vampires of the Covenant of the Shield organize a mission to rescue Steve, it is a new beginning for both of them.
Warnings: No standard warnings apply, but in this AU, Tony is Frankenstein’s (well, Yinsen’s) monster, as in, literally made of spare body parts, and some related gory imagery appears in the story.
Characters: Tony Stark, Steve Rogers, Nick Fury, Natasha Romanov, Clint Barton, Bruce Banner, Thor, Loki
Pairings: Steve Rogers/Tony Stark
When I Started: I wrote the first chapter as a fill for the Captain America/Iron Man bingo in January 2016. I already had an outline in mind for a longer story then, but I knew it'd be beyond the scope of the bingo. I estimated it'd be around 50k, and I really wanted to write it…
How I Lost My Shit: …I really wanted to write the whole long story, but there was always something else to do, some challenge to work on, and I had neither the time nor the motivation to finish this. I prodded at it every now and then and made some progress, but not enough. I mentally labeled it the Epic WIP of Despair. At one point, I started posting it as a WIP, which I usually never do, hoping that'd give me the motivation to finally finish it, but that didn't work either, since the reader response was lukewarm at best.
How I Finished My Shit: Since I'd already tried a lot of other things with no luck, I signed up for WIP BB. Deadlines are a great motivator for me, and that was also true this time. Although I worried about schedules a lot, I did, in the end, manage to finish the thing, even though it became even longer than I'd first planned. In fact, at 58k, it's now the longest story I've written in my life! And Wren did a pretty sad franken!Tony art for me! <3 I'm so glad I signed up! :)

Warnings none, but it's pre-canon and should be read with that in mind
Characters: Bodhi Rook, Galen Erso
Pairings: Galen Erso/Bodhi Rook
When I Started: I got inspired for this in the fall upon reading a snippet from the movie novelization on tumblr.
How I Lost My Shit: After writing the first section and a few dribs and drabs of the rest, I ended up falling into another, much longer story in another fandom that demanded all my attention. Then when I finally was able to turn my mind to this story, I got caught up in worrying about the style, which is very much out of my usual sort of thing.
How I Finished My Shit At last I just powered through and my beta (kindly) reassured me about the style. I'm so glad that I finished!
Fandom: Mad Men
Summary: In which two friends fall out, fall to pieces, and - much later - fall in love. A season 5 AU.
Warnings: Suicide Attempt; References to Past Abuse

Pairings: Joan Holloway/Lane Pryce, Peggy Olson/Don Draper, Michael Ginsberg/Dawn Chambers
When I Started: April 9, 2013
How I Lost My Shit:
In retrospect, starting a story about suicide and depression while experiencing clinical depression and working three jobs was probably not the brightest idea. And also, why the hell did I want this story to span a five year time period? That was overzealous. :) ANYWAY, after a move, getting better jobs, also getting medication, and staying on that medication, I was still able to keep writing and updating the story.
How I Finished My Shit:
Day after goddamn day. Finally wrote the last few pieces from April - June 2017.
How I Got Story Art:
Thanks to the Bang, my story art was created by the fabulous red_b_rackham, who provided me with the most GORGEOUS digital work ever ever ever.
Check it out on AO3!
She even did art for specific scenes!! And listened to all my nerdy requests without complaint. So thanks, Red, you're awesome. I'm so glad we got paired up!
So how's this going to go, you ask? I've got my story online or mostly online and it'll be posted by the date I claimed, but how will everybody know I've completed it?
Well, friend, do I have just the thing for you. Here on the WIP Big Bang comm, we're doing what we call Bragging Rights. That's right, you get an entire post on the comm to shout to the world how awesome you are.* In this post, you can share things like:
When I Started**
How I Lost My Shit**
How I Finished My Shit**
You can submit your post to the comm as early as you like (but LJ will only allow you to have one post in the queue at a time, so be aware if you have multiple posts to make!) and we'll queue it to post on the date you've claimed. Don't worry about tagging posts; we will use a system we've determined.
And don't worry, artists, we've got you covered, too. You get your own separate post, though you are welcome to just have your author post your art on their post if you want. If you don't plan on making your own separate post to the comm, then please let me know so I can get you marked off my list and you won’t be accidentally banned. In this post, you can share things like:
Link (or you can post the art here, too!)
Your posting day is all about you. So celebrate! Don't be modest! Shout it to the world! We all come from so many fandoms, but we all came together to finish our shit, and that's something to shed a proud tear over.
To make it easier, here are some templates:
You may post to Livejournal and/or Dreamwidth, whichever you prefer. You must post to the comm by the end of the posting period or you may be banned. As well as your bragging rights, you are welcome to post to the WIP Big Bang 2017 collection on AO3. If you have any questions, feel free to send the mods an email!
*If for some reason, you can't post this yourself, you can always email this information to the mod, and we'll post it for you.
**When I Started, How I Lost My Shit, How I Finished My Shit are all optional, but we would prefer you fill out the rest of the categories.
We're entering the final stages of the big bang! Today is the day to claim your date for posting.
What does that mean? It means that by the date you picked, your completed story MUST be online. It can be on AO3. It can be on ff-net. It can be on your personal blog. But it needs to be online and complete. We'll have two stories per day featured on the community. Next week, I will post the "bragging rights" post layout for both authors and artists (because hey, you finished your shit, you fully deserve to brag about that and your awesome art!), as well as links to the AO3 collection.
Here's what I need from you right now. I need you to get with your author/artist and select a date that works for BOTH of you. I will leave this post up and update as need be as dates get claimed. If you have not claimed a date by July 5th at 11:59 pm CST, a date will be assigned to you at random. (This is an extension on the original July 2nd date, to give you more time to communicate with your author/artist.) Dates are first come, first served. The last four days have been reserved in case of emergencies or missing artists, so please do not put any of them in your choices.
To claim your date, please leave a comment below with these details:
