Monday [Fandom] Madness! The Fall 2025 TV Viewing Edition

I have had trouble keeping up with my summer shows, so it was difficult to get myself to pay any attention to fall programing. The only good thing is that there is only one new show I'm interested in giving a try (and that's only because it's in the 9-1-1 'verse), and there's only a total of four shows on my fall viewing schedule.

Table back here )

What shows are you looking forward to coming back and/or what new shows are you checking out?

The Day in Spikedluv (Sunday, Sept 21)

I hit Stewart’s on the way home from mom’s, did two loads of laundry (both washed, dried AND folded (or hung up, as the case may be)), hand-washed dishes and ran a load in the dishwasher, went on a couple of walks with Pip and the dogs, baked chicken for the dogs' meals and also cut up chicken for the dog’s meals, scooped kitty litter, and showered.

I finished Key Lime Sky, read some fanfic, and watched an HGTV program.

Temps started out at 37.8(F) (though it must’ve been colder than that because Pip saw some frost on his first walk of the morning) and reached 75.0. I wore leggings and a long-sleeved t-shirt given how cold it was in the morning, and I roasted on our walks in the afternoon.

Mom Update:

Mom was a little more tired today. more back here )

Fic: Mischief and free will (Loki, MCU)

Title: Mischief and free will
Fandom: MCU, Loki (TV)
Relationship: Loki
Rating: T/Gen
Word count: 360
Tags: Existential Dread, Season 01
Summary: The Midgardians of Pompeii could only ever die.
For [community profile] seasons_of_fandom's round 1, challenge #1: Royal Rumble

Mischief and free willIt felt good to prove his theory right, to show that as clever as the TVA thought it was, they didn't know everything that there was to know about how the universe worked, that even having just learned this whole new set of rules Loki could still come up with a brilliant theory that they never thought of before. It was one of those things, being right and having others know it was a great feeling, which unfortunately he was often denied by the incompetence of those who failed to acknowledge how brilliant he was.

But that was only part of the reason. Standing on a simple street in Midgard, knowing that it was about to be swallowed by lava and soot, but that nothing of it would affect him. He could yell and cause chaos, he could make them run away in a panic, and it didn't matter. Pure chaos without consequence, he didn't know how much he missed that until that very moment. He wasn't even trying to reclaim his throne or anything of the sort, and he might even describe that as just having fun.

Sure, a whole city of Midgardians would die, but the key thing was that they were dead already. They always died there, all their lives only leading them to that one singular point so that they could die, the whole point of them was to die there. The one good thing about no free will, no self-determination, was that he couldn't ruin things there, nothing mattered. It was all as pointless as his own life, and they had just as much say in it as he had before.

Which unfortunately was a great way to ruin what had otherwise been a nice moment. It was harder to enjoy that moment of mischief when he thought of how it was the first time that he did something like that and it was his own choice. Unfortunately, it only served to make him think of all the ways that his own life had been decided for him until then, and the one time that he stepped out of that path, it landed him there.

Writerly Ways

I had thoughts about this, especially after the mothman festival so you can wait til tomorrow for that. And then the storm hit. My power went out. I wrote 3K in under 2 hours (so I can see what I'm capable of and what I USED to be capable of pre-social media) and then the power came back and I saw posts about two states trying to make it mandatory that all universities have a memorial to Charlie Kirk and my brain died of the stupid. (though I hope they do it and it fucking blows up in their faces) So instead have some links while my apartment cools back down (because omg why did it hit 89 again today)

First and Last Lines

Rules: Share the first and last lines of the last five stories you have posted to AO3.

From Tumblr but anyone can do this :) It helped me realize I had a typo to fix, lol. Featuring the only four fics I managed to finish this summer.

01. 5 Times Isobel Hated Being an Alien, and 1 Time She Didn't, Pod Squad

First: Isobel knows that Michael is feeling extremely nervous, but he’s trying not to let it show as he walks a little behind her and Max, pushing his bicycle.

Last: Yeah, she can live with this.

02. Waiting Up, Art/Tashi/Patrick

First: Art had been looking for an opportunity to talk to Tashi all day.

Last: She curled into his side, and she fit just as well as she always had.

03. you kiss me like you want it, how rude, Brad/Nate

First: Nate was feeling anxious ahead of Ray's birthday party.

Last: The poker game could not end fast enough.

04. Intertwined by Circumstance, Max/Liz/Kyle

First: Liz let her work in Los Angeles consume her, because doing so helped push out all of the intrusive thoughts about Roswell and Max and Kyle.

Last: Liz didn’t bother looking back at the ocean, not when a future intertwining the three of them lay ahead of her.

05. Within Our Depravity, Feyd-Rautha/Paul

First: When Feyd-Rautha was captured, the Emperor offered Feyd an ultimatum.

Last: Except for the fact that Feyd already wants desperately to do it all again.

A/N: I finished this after editing/combining a few smaller comment fics that I wrote for [personal profile] scintilla10 and some Tumblr prompts.

The Day in Spikedluv (Saturday, Sept 20)

I hit Price Chopper and the Bakery while I was downtown and got in a walk around the park.

I did two loads of laundry (washed, dried AND folded), hand-washed dishes, went on several walks with Pip and the dogs, cut up chicken for the dogs' meals, and changed kitty litter (and then almost immediately had to SCOOP the kitty litter because Midnight takes a fresh pan of kitty litter as an invitation).

I read some fanfic and started Key Lime Sky.

Temps started out at 39.2(F) and reached 70.0. That was much colder than I wanted it to be in the morning, but it got really nice out.

Hopes Dashed

So THIS house hit the market yesterday at 163K

It's gorgeous. It's everything I could want in a Victorian house. I was ready to call my bank to work up what I can afford. Then I calmed my ass down and looked it over. WHY so cheap? Yeah Wellston kinda sucks but it's not too bad. Sends to Dad. Why so cheap?

His response. Ghosts in that attic, demons in that basement (truth) buy it. We all were concerned that it looked like the basement wall is collapsing and if that's the case I can't afford to fix a foundation. [personal profile] evil_little_dog is already plotting how to redo the fence (so you can get to the garage) and putting in trees and apparently showing up with all her possessions, ha.

Today I go to Wellston and look. It's one block off the main drag. At the corner of the block is the abandoned (haunted!!) old Loy Hospital (jackasses busting out windows), some business I have no clue about and a non denomination (which I keep typing as demonation) church with a hand painted sign that says COMPELL CHRIST (like that's not ominous). On the other side of the block is a small business and the old school turned community center and Adena health clinic (is it a drug rehab place? I forgot to look. Good going Dana) Down the road is nothing but big houses like this one and St Peter and St Paul Catholic church and Grace Baptist.

I. Want. This. House. I don't wanna live in town. It's not the best area. I don't even care. I come home and find out why so cheap. It was a typo. It's 263K not 163. SIGH. Keeping my eye on it. If you knock off 30K I could probably still buy it but at that price I'm not sure I want that neighborhood. I'll end up with old hospital ghosts or something.

My stomach is no longer burning (huzzah) but I am still weak, exhausted and getting nauseated. Of course I suspected potential ulcers before this. I need to keep my eye on this. But I did get a letter (again! OMG why letters?) from Cabell Hospital about a telehealth appointment with the nurse prac. WHY? I haven't had the CT scan yet and I just saw the actual doc. Yet another call I need to make.

I did watch Glitch's Knights of Guinevere. It was....interesting. I'm not as jazzed as the rest of the internet who are acting like this is the second coming. That aside, I did really like it and am disappointed I'll be waiting months if not a year for more. It definitely comes out swinging (right at Disney). I do think I need a second watch, pausing to read all the worldbuilding posters etc in the background.

not really a spoiler but just in case )

The Day in Spikedluv (Friday, Sept 19)

Today was a LOW-shopping day. *g* I hit the Pharmacy while I was downtown and got in a walk around the park. I filled my gas tank and dropped a book off at the library on the way to mom’s.

I did a load of laundry (washed, dried AND folded), hand-washed dishes, went for several walks with Pip and the dogs, cut up chicken for the dogs' meals, scooped kitty litter, paid some bills online, and showered. *whispers* I picked up more bbq chicken quarters for supper. Sunnycrest was having a Harvest Fest, and bbq chicken and pulled pork was part of that. The dinners were disappointing, but a night of not having to cook supper is still a win for me!

I read more fanfic and watched some HGTV programs.

Temps started out at 60.6(F) and reached 72.1. I had no idea it was going to be so warm in the morning! We were actually warm sleeping overnight because we’d planned for another 45 degree night.

Weekend Cooking: Natto And Egg Rice

Ingredients
  • 1 container of natto, room temperature
  • 1 bowl of cooked white rice:
  • 1 piece of egg
  • 1 packet of sauce
Instruction:
  1. Cook the rice in a rice cooker or pot according to your usual method.
  2. Traditionally, the egg is served raw. For people with health and nutrient concern like me, boiled eggs or poached eggs also go well.
  3. Open the natto container and stir the natto. Pour them into the rice and egg bowl.
  4. Add the sauce that usually comes with the natto container
