 It's the weekend - welcome back to the whine bar.

Does anyone else ever get close to finishing their fic, like so close, only to be ambushed by another idea that wants to be written RIGHT NOW?Because I am remembering so many instances of this happening to me whenever I got close to my deadline and the fic was almost done, and I really couldn't take the time the shiny new idea was demanding.

Anyway, I hope nobody's brain is sabotaging them so close to the deadline. There's a check-in going on here - not mandatory, just let us know how you're doing.

OMG that sabotage! I write for commissions too so I keep getting these GREAT single shot commissions in and...ugh. It's a PAIN. But it keeps me fed so I can't complain too much.

I have one finished fic, one that's more or less finished but I need to double check the word count to see if it met the minimum, two others that are almost done but may also be too short, three that are fairly close, and I'm praying I can get an extension to work on the other seven to get them to 80% ASAP. But at least I think I've got it down to the final few? So yay for that?

I'm so close to done, like maybe two chapters left with one being plot and one being the mandatory and-they-live-happily-ever-after epilogue (because that's the kind of sap I write) and my brain has just given up. Every time I try to write, my brain just wants to dump out a summary of the ending rather than the actual ending.

In the meantime, I'm also doing art and I keep getting ideas for things that I want to sketch other than the two pieces I volunteered to do. (I'm counting that as practice since every sketch is a learning experience, but I really need to focus on these subjects.)

I'm just having the worst focus issues, where I have five major scenes I should be tackling but I'm fiddling with bullshit instead. This is often part of the process, things are cooking beneath the surface and will come pouring out at some point, but the deadline is adding some extra panic this time around.

I've had other projects, so this week is for buckling down and FINISHING the damn story.

But the lack of claim for art is feeding that little voice in the back of my head that says it's okay to drop out...

Finished the first draft this morning, but not sure about the ending. Will reserve judgment until I finish revising and making sure the pacing is okay.

I had planned an epilogue for thematic purposes, but I'm realizing now that I have no idea what to put in the epilogue. FML

Maybe the story is over and doesn't need an epilogue? (I say as someone prone to writing past the ending.)
