FAQ

What is the WIP Big Bang International Fanworks Day Mini Bang?
Good question! This is a Mini Bang with one goal in mind: to clean out your fanfic drafts folder for the fics that were too short to be completed during the main Big Bang (ie, finished works are 7.5K words and under).

Do I need a Livejournal/Dreamwidth/AO3/etc. account to participate?
No! You don’t have to have an account on anything to participate, though you will need to have somewhere to post your finished work. Having one or more accounts will help for you to follow what is going on with the bang (we cross-post to Dreamwidth and Tumblr and heavily use our Discord server at the moment), but they are not required to participate. You can always leave comments anonymously or with an opensource ID.

How many fics can I write?
We absolutely don’t mind multiple fics! There are no sign-ups for this, as it’s an informal Mini Bang, so as long as it stays under he max word count, you can finish as many fics as you want between January 1st and February 15th.

Will I get emails about the bang?
We do not send out any emails for the Mini Bang, as we currently do not keep an updated email list of participants, so we only send individual emails as needed rather than mass emails.

However, email is the fastest way to communicate with the mods. If you have any questions or are having trouble communicating with your artist/author, please do email us! We will do our best to respond quickly.

What do you mean by maximum word count?
You don’t have to have a set minimum of your fic to start, so an outlined fic is fine, but it must be under 7,500 words when it’s finished.

WIP Mini Bang rules will go up later today.

Posting for the 2025 round of WIP Big Bang and WIP Reverse Bang will officially close at 11:59 PM PST (roughly a little over nine hours from this posting). I will not be reblogging anything submitted after that point. If you do not post and do not send an email to wipbigbang@gmail.com officially dropping out before that point, you will be banned for the 2026 round as a regular participant (you may sign up as an artist for a fic/writer for an art project, however). The 2025 round masterlist will go up at some point in January.

The 2026 WIP Mini Bang details will go up at some point tomorrow (January 9th) and posting for that event will be extended to March 1st due to the information going out over a week late.

Information for the 2026 WIP Big Bang & WIP Reverse Bang will go up on April 1st.

Bragging Rights: ⟫ I was utterly intrigued by the concept when I saw the snippets that were posted, so was incredibly pleased to be given this fic for my art assignment. Maralagidyne was a joy to work with – she answered all of my questions about her characters, the tone of the fic, and any particular things that she wanted.

My original ideas (four of them) were much brighter in tone than where we ended up, but after talking to Maralagidyne, my brain came up with a slightly darker concept and she was more than happy to let me run with it. I deliberately left the images that I sent to Maralagidyne large enough to show all of the detail of the images and they shouldn’t be lost when they are made smaller for actual posting.

If you opted for a December date (either originally or rescheduling during the posting period), you will hae until whenever I wake up on January 1st to either post your fic/art or email us at wipbigbang@gmail.com to drop out. I will be posting the info about the mini bang around midnight and then fingers crossed I will actually go to sleep before the sun comes up, and then I will post anything still waiting to be posted when I wake up and then posting will officially be over. Within the next week or two I will post the 2025 masterlist as well as both the 2024 Big Bang masterlist and the 2025 Mini Bang masterlist (both of which I started to compile but lost access to the files and just got access back this week).

If you had a posting date in September/October/November and didn't email us about rescheduling for December, you are still more than welcome to post in December as well! We had a lot of people who claimed dates who didn't post or alert us, so you still have time to post before you get banned for not posting. Post at any point in December by posting your Bragging Rights (found at https://wipbigbang.dreamwidth.org/210584.html) to the Tumblr (either by submitting them or tagging our blog in your post) or Dreamwidth. You must include the Bragging rights in the template or I won't reblog your post.

I will also go through the posting date claims form to see who signed up and didn't post or drop out in time. I will alert participants who are banned from being WIPBB authors/WIPRB artists for the 2026 round via the mod email, and will kee a list of emails to cross-check against the 2026 sign-ups. If you are banned and you submit a sign-up, your sign-up will be deleted and you will be reminded of your ban. Sign up again after the reminder and I will ban you from participating as a WIPBB artist/WIPRB author in the 2026 round as well.

Summary:

The ghost story that everyone knows as the Winter Soldier? Turns out, it’s Bucky.

When Steve demands to be assigned to the Winter Soldier case, Fury indulges him. After all, who’d be better at catching a super soldier than another super soldier, right? Steve is good at pulling off stuff nobody else can.

Stuff like restoring Bucky’s memory. Because during one of their encounters, the Winter Soldier puts his finger in Steve’s mouth, and Steve learns the second most important thing in his life.

Project Title: Untitled Bucky/Zemo Fic

Bragging Rights: Unfortunately my author had to pull out of the Bang, but I was able to make this art for their fic. The story took place in 1700s France. A pivotal section of the story takes place at a masquerade ball thus all the costume and mask imagery chosen for the moodboard. I am very proud of the manips I did for Bucky and Zemo, I couldn't do much about the modern hairstyles, but was very happy with how I was able to make them both look like they were in more historical dress.

How I Finished My Shit: I determined I needed to finish it for this challenge (which is why it was one of the two I chose) and then I decided which of the plot threads I had to sew up (Hunter’s plight) and which to leave open ended (the fate of the Boiling Isles) figuring I can always write a sequel if I wanted to.
