Story Title: Les Fleurs Du Mal

Fandom: Doctor Who (1963)/NBC Hannibal crossover

Link: https://archiveofourown.org/works/17136953/chapters/40301927

SummaryAn unexpected detour leads to the Doctor and Ace teaming up with the FBI to investigate a series of disturbingly specific floral-themed murders. But with Ace's increasingly strange dreams, a hyper-empathetic consultant who can't seem to empathize quite so well any more, and one Doctor Hannibal Lecter in the mix, the murders may be the least of their problems...

Warnings:
Murder, cannibalism, swearing, amputation, body horror, Hannibal-typical violence.

Characters: Seventh Doctor, Ace McShane, Hannibal Lecter, Will Graham, Beverly Katz, various background ensemble characters

Pairings: Mostly gen, background Will/Hannibal and Ace/Bev

When I Started: early 2018, although I didn't end up posting until later that year.

How I Lost My Shit: A combination of health issues (both mental and physical) and just general life-getting-in-the-way meant that I gradually fell away from writing/posting, despite a large chunk of it already being pre-written and planned out.

How I Finished My Shit: Threw myself furiously at the last few chapters for a few months straight until it had some semblance of a complete plot and satisfying ending. It's definitely not my best work but if I didn't finish it this year, I was never going to get around it it. It's done, damnit, and I'm proud of that.

Story Title: How To Win Friends and Influence People
Fandom: Doctor Who/The Magnus Archives
Link: link to story
Summary: In which Rose Tyler and Jonathan Sims have an extremely unpleasant experience in Henrik's department store one evening shortly after closing.
Warnings: violence, death
Characters: Rose Tyler, Jonathan Sims, Wilson the electrician, various supernaturally animated mannequins
Pairings: none
When I Started: in February 2020, as a response to a Three Sentence Ficathon prompt that got wildly out of control
How I Lost My Shit: did I mention that the fill got wildly out of control? Also, 2020 happened.
How I Finished My Shit: panic and sheer bloody-mindedness, mostly. And then I straight-up forgot about my posting date because September has been one damn thing overlapping with another on various non-fandom fronts, and I didn't remember I hadn't done anything with the story until I saw some last-minute posts go by tonight. *headdesk* Mea maxima culpa!

Story Title: The Doctor and Rose: A Tale in Three Waltzes
Fandom: Doctor Who (2005)
Link(s): on A03
Summary: The Doctor takes Rose on a journey of magical, musical discovery. They may just end up discovering other things, too.
Warnings: Nil.
Characters: Ninth Doctor, Rose Tyler, Jack Harkness, Jackie Tyler, OCs.
Pairings: Nine x Rose
When I Started: 1 Jan 2020
How I Lost My Shit: I was planning to finish it within a week. My muse refused to write anything for months, and no matter how hard I tried, it didn't work.
How I Finished My Shit: Signing up to this event, begging and pleading with the muse, and writing a crazy number of words in a sudden and large burst, listening to the music and hoping for the best. And an amazing beta/idea partner.

Art Title: Fanmix for "The Doctor and Rose: A Tale in Three Waltzes"
Fandom: Doctor Who
Warnings: None for the art

Bragging Rights: I had to go hunt down better graphics than what was provided, but I love the way this came out. The fic had music already involved in it and one piece is 45 minutes long, so I decided just to stick with the fic's music instead of adding more. I love the music that was picked and it was fun finding the actual titles and stuff for the information on the songs.

They travel millions of years into the past to find the source of the ancient ginkgo the Doctor needs for her cure. While gathering leaves, they encounter a gentle giant, the largest mammal ever to walk the Earth. Bragging Rights: I am surprisingly pleased with how the colours and textures turned out in this illustration, which was entirely hand-drawn in Photoshop. It took a couple tries to land on a composition that I liked and that incorporated the various visual elements from onthedriftinthetardis' fic I'd wanted to include.

Bragging Rights: This was one of those stories which immediately jumped out to me. I love me some rare pairs in my fandoms, and by all rights, Bucky/Connie from the Stark Fair in "Captain America: The First Avenger" is one. And while I only know that Connie and Clara Oswald "share" their actress, I had a lot of fun creating art for this wonderful story. Right now, there's only the story cover here, but the chapter headers are in the works and will be added as soon as they are all done!!

Story Title: Alternate Beginnings, Alternate Endings, Alternate Universes
Fandom: Doctor Who/St. Trinian’s
Link(s): AO3
Summary: After being sent to the worst school in the whole of England, Amy meets up with the man whose fault it is that she’s there, and things go vastly more differently than anyone expected.
Warnings: None
Characters: Amy Pond, Camilla Fritton, Kelly Jones, Eleventh Doctor, Rory Williams, Mels Zucker, River Song, Annabelle Fritton
Pairings: Rory Williams/Amy Pond, The Doctor/River Song, Annabelle Fritton/Kelly Jones
When I Started: July 5th, 2012
How I Lost My Shit: I essentially stepped away from the Doctor Who fandom for the most part, and had kind of painted myself into a corner with how I wrote this.
How I Finished My Shit: When I was going through what I had written to send out snippets, I realized I utilized time skips in the fic and I could just skip to one of the magic dates in Doctor Who (the night before Rory and Amy’s wedding) and have this become a series, where the girls and Rory have adventures trying to restore the universe and retrieve the Doctor from the universe we saw him in on the show. So once I decided to make it a series I realized I only needed one more chapter and boom! It practically wrote itself.

Story Title: All Screwed To Hell And Eternity And Space And Back
Fandom: Marvel Cinematic Universe/Doctor Who
Link(s): AO3
Summary: Everyone has a countdown on their wrist to when they will find their soulmate. If they don't, they die. Even Steve Rogers's ran in one direction, though it took him ninety years to meet his. But Bucky's has never run normally, not in the 40s, not when he was the Winter Soldier, and not now that the whole mess with the Infinity Gauntlet has been fixed. But now it's stuck and he has no idea why. Meanwhile, Clara's is still running despite being taken out of the timeline, though never in any way that makes sense or has ever made sense. Not to her, not to the Doctor, not to Ashildr. She'd expected it to disappear. But it's simply counting down to her inevitable demise. And yet? Fate has its ways to make these two meet...even if it takes a TARDIS and the Avengers to make it happen.
Warnings: None
Characters: Bucky Barnes, Shuri, Clara Oswald, Ashildr, Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff, Tony Stark, Thor Odisnson, Brunhilde, Loki Laufeyson, Carol Danvers, Stephen Strange, Wong, mentions of Marvel comics characters
Pairings: Bucky Barnes/Clara Oswald, Steve Rogers/Natasha Romanoff, Thor Odinson/Brunhilde, Loki Laufeyson/Ashildr; mentioned Carol Danvers/Maria Rambeau
When I Started: May 22nd, 2018
How I Lost My Shit: I did two brief updates in February of 2019, just short little things, but I just kind of hit a block on “how can I make this crossover make sense?”
How I Finished My Shit: Actually, it was all the hoopla for “Avengers: Endgame” and an article I read that more or less “spoiled” what was going to happen in the movie I read in April, which I didn’t know if it was true but it gave me some great ideas. So I sat down one evening, wrote four chapters, then wrote the last four the next day once I gave myself the okay to make this into a series.

Story Title: The Detectives And The Hound
Fandom: BBC Sherlock/Doctor Who
Link(s): AO3
Summary: Sherlock and John get given a case from Henry Knight, who believes his father was killed years prior by a hound in the moors. But what starts as a much needed break from the tedium that Sherlock is experiencing turns into a case that has him questioning many things and feeling something he has not felt in a long time: the type of fear that leaves you with a chill in your bones.
Warnings: Non-consensual drug use
Characters: Sherlock Holmes, John Watson, Amy Pond, Henry Knight, Greg Lestrade, Mycroft Holmes
Pairings: Sherlock Holmes/Amy Pond, background John Watson/Lorna Bucket
When I Started: October 9th, 2013
How I Lost My Shit: Okay. So despite the fact pretty much every fic I have submitted to WIPBB in the last few years is Sherlock based, I have a love/hate relationship with the show (for example, I still haven’t seen series 4 yet). This fic is the result of one of my least favorite episodes being requested over and over for a rewrite, and me managing to get through the episode once over a span of two days and then noping out after chapter 1.
How I Finished My Shit: Six years and a couple of failed attempts later, I decided eff it, I was just going to ignore the stuff I didn’t like, change things around, MAKE FRANKLAND SURVIVE and just let the chips fall where they may. I think it’s faithful to the episode to a point, but I like my version a bit more. And before anyone asks, I hated the lab scenes so I cut out the trip to Baskerville for that reason, which was what had been stopping me from forward progress until last week. Also, the amazing art by twisted_slinky was a huge inspiration, so I am so grateful for that.
