How I Finished My Shit: Honestly wasn't sure I would: it took a bit of work to get it up above the minimum limit. Then, when I did, I realized that roughly 1/3 of it wasn't working, so I had to edit it heavily and rewrite the ending into one that makes much more sense. I'd been worried I wouldn't be able to get it done but severe editing turned out to be what actually made it possible.

When I Started: April 2019

How I Lost My Shit: I tried a few different directions for the plot and kept writing myself into a corner. It was even entered in last year's bang, but I withdrew it because I didn't think I could finish it. I even moved it to my 'abandoned' list a couple of times but always wound up going back.

How I Finished My Shit: I finally worked out a decent plot and managed to get myself out of the corner. Feels pretty good to have it done after 2 ½ years.

How I Lost My Shit: I realized the original outline wasn't going to work so I revamped it and rewrote the fic. Then I realized that outline wasn't going to work so I did it again. Then I decided I hated the whole thing, threw away the outline, and tore out everything I didn't like, left it alone for a month then looked at it again and realized I'd lost my motivation. Twice.

How I Finished My Shit I realized after the second loss of motivation that I had to finish it because it was past the deadline to drop out of the Bang. I dropped the idea of making it work the way I wanted it, gutted it again, and stitched the remaining scenes together pretty much with pure id-fic. Then I realized that once it was finished and published I never had to look at it again. That got it done.
