How I Lost My Shit: I just got distracted and busy with other challenges, and RL things.
How I Finished My Shit: I heard that the WIP Big Bang was having a Reversebang section, so I decided to use that as a spur to complete this as a primary work in the Reversebang. Also for the Stargate Anniversary festival.
Notes: Made with Procreate and watercolours. I've deliberately left the story behind this scene, and the outcome, open-ended, as inspiration for writers. And if it's a bit unsettling, well, it is almost the 31st.

Summary: Staring up at the child welfare building, John barely feels the freezing wind as it bites at the bare skin of his neck.

He can still hear the voice of the officer who had called him. “Robbery” and “there was nothing the doctors could do” keep repeating over and over in his head. Nothing else stayed behind from what his phone claims was a ten minute conversation. It doesn’t really matter.

When I Started: November 2012, I started it as a SGA Secret Santa fic that year that turned too long.
How I Lost My Shit: The story turned into something that's was a little too long in order to finish it in time for my submission date and I wrote something small and lovely that covered Christmas even instead fully intending to finish this. Then life got in the way (change of job, got stuck on a scene).
How I Finished My Shit: My dad passed away in January and when I picked a story to write I needed and wanted something to work through my own feelings of sadness, anger, and depression. This story came to mind and I decided I wanted to finish it now of all times.

Summary: John Sheppard, black sheep of a billionaire family, just wants to find a stable job and give reconciliation with his family a final chance. Rodney McKay, researcher, is trying to reconnect with his sister and get to know his niece. A chance encounter at a toy store leads to John inviting Rodney for the Sheppard Global Christmas party, where a somewhat expected confrontation with his homophobic father costs him his job. John and Rodney have an almost instantaneous connection, and while their growing relationship is complicated by John's precarious financial situation and Rodney's past issues with relationships, they are both determinate to make things work.
