UPDATE: Start Date Confirmation & 2021 Schedule
So it is now official, as of this posting: Works In Progress Big Bang 2021 round will start April 1st, 2021. My apologies for taking so long to announce it, I was waiting to hear from all the mods to make sure the schedule we hashed out works for all of them.

The 2020 round started on the 30th of April so there's going to be more time for writing and posting this round; I wanted the posting to start on a Sunday so we could have over a month of posting by the time the reserved emergency posting dates start on the 15th. We're going to see how many participants are posting before I decide for sure how many fics will post each day, but I'm considering opening four posting slots a day and then maybe five on the emergency posting dates.

Here is the schedule for the 2021 round. This will be posted as a pinned post on all three of our major platforms, along with the FAQ:

Sign-ups Begin- April 1st
Sign-ups Close- April 15th
Check In #1- April 22nd
Check In #2- May 15th
Snippets Due- June 1st
Art Claims Begin- June 17th
Check In #3- June 22nd
Check In #4- July 6th
Rough Drafts Due- July 15th
Posting Claims Begin- July 23rd
Posting Claims Ends- August 1st
Final Drafts/Art Due- August 7th
Posting Starts- August 8th

Check-ins will be open for one week and are not mandatory, but we like knowing how things are coming along. Rough draft check-in is mandatory and will last one week. If you don't check in for your rough draft, you can't claim a posting date. There's one day for leeway between the two events.

If you have any questions about the start date or the schedule, feel free to ask them here or send an email to the mod email at wipbigbang@gmail.com.

Are the rough drafts for the artists too? I'm a little confused about why there are snippets due and then later drafts due?

The snippets are from authors so that we can put each fic up in the art claiming, and then send the snippets to artists once they've claimed a fic. The rough draft deadline is for both fic and art, but you don't actually submit anything. It's a check-in form to let us know you're at least 70% done with your fic/art.
