When I Started: The beginning of this year, for the Chocolate Box challenge.

How I Lost My Shit: I was wildly overambitious in plotting. I ended up writing a much shorter fic.

How I Finished My Shit I really wanted to get back to this story, and help from the nanodownunder community and a Nano Cabin got me into writing regularly on it, and finally getting up enough momentum. This is still only 15% of my original outline, though, so there's more to come, but this is definitely a start - thanks to this community! And thanks to my artist as well!

Summary: Mycroft is sent to Hampshire for a meeting that he has an ulterior motive for going to: there has been talk of strange goings ons in the nearby village of Farnham, Surrey, and a high ranking government official has disappeared. He tasks his brother to find out just what is going on, which leads to the discovery of a long lost colony of an ancient race who are normally peaceful but are being manipulated by an unscrupulous businessman with plans for taking what he believes to be rightfully his.

How I Lost My Shit: I couldn't figure out how to incorporate all the mythology I needed for the series and still make it a good story.
How I Finished My Shit: Comments from readers. This story is part of my "Unexpected Legacies" series, which I usually toss in a few fics every Halloween for a ficathon I take part in, but I wanted to get this one done before last Halloween and then just couldn't finish. But people have told me on AO3 and on Tumblr how much they love this series and were excited I was finishing this fic, so that helped.
