I have to make a few unexpected edits, but the final counts for submissions are 219 fics to WIPBB and 45 art projects to WIPRB! It looks like we're going to have plenty for artists and writers to choose from.

Claiming will go live on July 17th, so keep a lookout to the pinned post for links to the summaries! Also, please remember to check the newly updated schedule for the start and end dates of each stage of the bangs.

So one of the mods brought up a good point about the posting dates, so there's going to be a slight change this round with when emergency posting will be. Official posting will, from now on, go from September 8th to November 30th since we have so many more posters than previous rounds. Emergency posting will go on for the entire month of December, and you will not have to sign up for it, you'll just post when you finish.

Also, with regards to submitting snippets if you don't think you'll finish your fic/art by November 30th: With December now being reserved for emergency posting, you CAN submit snippets for WIPs even if you can only finish by December. However, we strongly encourage you to be upfront with your artist if you're aiming for a December posting and come to a decision on what specific date to (finish) post(ing) by so you don't leave them hanging.

This is how snippet submission will work:

Fic snippet submissions and art snippet submissions will be on different forms, and both forms will be listed here in #announcements on the Discord as well as pinned under the pinned Schedule/FAQ post on Tumblr and pinned to the top of the Dreamwidth page as a separate post under the Schedule/FAQ (since a lot of you are on Tumblr I'm also going to have a post with the links I'll reblog every day the submissions forms are open, just in case people can't see the secondary pinned post).

Fic writers are to submit at least one but at max three snippets between 500 to 1500 words (if it goes over or under a bit that's fine). You may also submit them using Google Docsor Ellipsus (with the GDocs/Ellipsus option you can put all three snippets in one document and put the link in the first section and N/A in the other two sections, or you can do separate doc for each section and post each link in an individual snippets section...just make sure your artist can view them without haing to get your permission first!). The Google form collecting snippets does not italicize/bold/underline your text automatically when it's submitted; you can either use HTML coding to indicate where italicized/bolded/underlined text will be or submit it as a Gdoc link.

For those submitting art project snippets, you only have to supply one snippet to an image hosting service/YouTube/sound hosting service and provide a link to it, but you must provide the snippet when you submit the snippet form. If you want to provide more than one snippet you may, but it's not required.

Both snippet submission forms will be asking for general information about your fic/art project. You'll have two sections for content warnings (one for AO3's general warnings as a checkbox option and a section to write in any other warnings or things you want artists/writers to be aware of), a section for a summary of your project, the title, the rating and I think one other section. Please make sure to include all the fandoms your project is working in by FULL FANDOM NAME (not nicknames/abbreviations, as we use a script to put the claims forms together and I've got anywhere from 245 to 675 potential participants this round).

If you need to make any changes the the description info after you've submitted the form email the mods ASAP so I can edit the specific claims info in the spreadsheets we'll be generating before the claims list gets made via script. If you need to edit snippet stuff, email the mods with the subject line information listed in the first section of this post, as fic snippets will not be included in the claims listings (art/fanvid/filk snippets are included in the claims info so as I said before, you must include a snippet in your WIPRB form).

Any other questions you may have feel free to bring up in #mod-questions/asks/comments below. The form will stay open until midnight/early morning July 11th!

Sorry for the delay in posting the links to the forms here; I think I figured out how to post it to the top of the page until sign-ups are over.

We are running both a Big Bang and another round of the Reverse Bang, each with their own sign-up form. Please make sure you use the correct form!

WIP Big Bang Sign-Up Form | WIP Reverse Bang Sign-Up Form

Art Title & LinkThat Goddamn Gene
Fandom: Stargate Atlantis
Summary: Rodney, Teyla, and Ronon watch, helpless and appalled, as John lights up the temple.
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply. Implied mind-control... possibly?
Characters: Rodney McKay, John Sheppard, Ronon Dex, Teyla Emmagan
Pairings: up to the writer, or Gen.
When I Started: unsure, roughly the start of this year?
How I Lost My Shit: I just got distracted and busy with other challenges, and RL things.
How I Finished My Shit: I heard that the WIP Big Bang was having a Reversebang section, so I decided to use that as a spur to complete this as a primary work in the Reversebang. Also for the Stargate Anniversary festival.
Notes: Made with Procreate and watercolours. I've deliberately left the story behind this scene, and the outcome, open-ended, as inspiration for writers. And if it's a bit unsettling, well, it is almost the 31st.

How I Lost My Shit: I got stuck in the traditional media version not knowing how to try different approaches to the color scheme.
How I Finished My Shit: I finished this digitally so I could experiment without ruining the original. :D

Art Title: Once in a Blue Moon
Fandom: Astro
Link: Once in a Blue Moon on AO3
Summary: MJ is a singer in a jazz bar, and Eunwoo is his pianist :)
Warnings: none
Characters: MJ, Eunwoo, the rest of Astro, Moon Sua, Monsta X + Wonho
Pairings: MJ/Eunwoo or MJ & Eunwoo, up to you :)

When I Started: gosh, sometime between late 2021 and early 2022, after the second subunit of Rocky and Jinjin was announced and their album came out. There was a discussion on Discord about whether we'd get a third subunit of MJ and Eunwoo at some point, and how amazing that would be with their vocals ^_^

How I Lost My Shit: When we lost Bin ;_; Everything Astro related became hard to see or hear or even talk about, and the healing process has been a long one. Took me so long before I could even look at Bin's pictures again without crying, and it's still hard for me to listen to any song he's in. But I won't give up on all the happy memories, and I won't give up on loving their music.

How I Finished My Shit: When Nagi (InterstellarBlue) asked me if I'd do this challenge, because she'd be willing to write a fic for my art ♥ There were other options to choose from, since I always have more than one WIP in the works, be it art or fic, but the Astro one was calling to me. The initial piece of art only has MJ and Eunwoo, so it was easier to start with, and then I could do the additional piece with the other Astro members too, including Bin. And now I'm super happy I did, and super proud of myself for having finally finished this piece of art. Not to mention I got such a wonderful story for it too ♥

On your posting day, there is a specific form we would like you to fill out to post your fanworks. It allows you bragging rights for finishing your fic/art, and also links to the location of your fic (it should be up somewhere like AO3/FF.net/your personal Tumblr under a tag/any other fic or journal community) in its completion. We also have an AO3 collection for this round where you can post the AO3 postings of your fic and art to when you are finished posting new chapters.

You can submit your post to either Tumblr (by submitting the post) or Dreamwidth (by adding the post to the queue) or both sites as early as you like and we'll queue it to post on the date you've claimed. Don't worry about tagging posts; we will use a system we've determined.

And don't worry, WIPBB artists and WIP reverse Bang authors, we've got you covered, too! You get your own separate post, though you are welcome to just have your author post your art on their post if you want. If you don't plan on making your own separate post to the comm, you still must do the final posting check-in. In this post, you can share things like this for the WIPBB artists:

Your posting day is all about you. So celebrate! Don't be modest! Shout it to the world! We all come from so many fandoms, but we all came together to finish our shit, and that's something to shed a proud tear over.

* This part of the bragging rights is totally optional; if you don't want to include it on your post you don't have to.

WIPBB Check In #4 is closed. Thank you to everyone who filled out the form! Participants who had concerns have been emailed and the many thank yous have been shared with the other mods.

The rough draft check in is live! The form is linked below and is open to all participants (WIPBB authors & artists and WIPRB artists), though it's only mandatory this round for WIPBB authors and WIPRB artists. There is a new section to the form you can use to indicate whether you're filling out the form as a WIPBB author or artist or a WIPRB artist or author. Hopefully, it's not too confusing, but we're going to try it out during this test run to see if we can just combine most forms next time we another WIPRB round.

The form is up at https://forms.gle/WuFLrmBstqXwraraA

Check In #3 for the Regular WIPBB is open! This is not a mandatory form (ie if you miss it we won't kick you out), but we'd appreciate it if you fill it out anyway if you plan on posting fic.

Check In #3

The form for the Thumbnail Submissions is live! It's basically the same first few parts as the Snippet submission form (asking for a title if you have it, character/pairings, fandom...if it's original just put Original Work...warnings if needed and a brief description of the work to entice someone to claim it). The actual submission page is a little different. Please upload your thumbnail to PostImages.org or another image saving server (just no Photoshop, please...they're doing their users dirty right now) and link it in Thumbnail #1. If you want, you can include up to two more thumbnails as well, but you only have to upload one.

THIS CHECK IN IS JUST FOR THE REVERSE WIPBB, SO ONLY ARTISTS NEED TO CHECK IN!

The form will close on the 8th of July.

FAQ

What is the Reverse WIP Big Bang? Good question! This is a Big Bang with one goal in mind: to clean out your fanart/original art drafts folder. Any art that is of a digital or traditional means as well as fanvideos are eligible. If you’ve started word on an art/fanvid project and want an impetus to finish, maybe with a fic written in honor of it, now is your chance!

Do I need a Livejournal/Dreamwidth/AO3/etc. account to participate? No! You don’t have to have an account on anything to participate, though you will need to have somewhere to post your finished work. Having one or more accounts will help for you to follow what is going on with the bang (we crosspost to Dreamwidth and Tumblr and heavily use our Discord server at the moment), but they are not required to participate. You can always leave comments anonymously or with an opensource ID.

How many art pieces can we sign up for? We absolutely don’t mind multiple sign-ups. As this is a trial, run, however, we ask that you limit yourself to three unfinished projects that are at least 10% complete upon sign-up. We just ask that when you sign up with more than one art piece/fanvid you give each project a unique user ID (please do not use the same ID for all your art...it’s important to have different IDs for the check-ins).

Will I get emails about the bang? We do send out some emails, mostly for thumbnails and fic claims and to ensure communication between authors and artists, but please do NOT rely on getting an email to remind you of due dates. We currently do not keep an updated email list of participants, so we only send individual emails as needed rather than mass emails.

However, email is the fastest way to communicate with the mods. If you have any questions or are having trouble communicating with your artist/author, please do email us! We will do our best to respond quickly.

Sign ups for the regular round of WIPBB are now closed. We had almost 500 different fics submitted! Yay to everyone forging ahead on finishing their work this round, and good luck!

There is also something we're doing a trial run of this round, with sign ups starting June 1st. We're going to see if we can handle a Reverse WIPBB as well, where artists sign up to finish their art and can potentially get a 750 word minimum fic written for it (just like the original WIPBB, this part is opt in). We will have a modified schedule and more information coming out shortly!
