Story Title: The Babe On The Doorstep
Fandom: BBC Sherlock
Link(s): AO3
Summary: One morning an infant is left on Mycroft’s doorstep with a note, signed by a woman named Laura. As Mycroft tries to find out who would entrust a child into his care he slowly opens his heart to the infant and lets the other people in his life that he’s kept at arms length in more, bit by bit.
Warnings: None
Characters: Mycroft Holmes, Anthea, Greg Lestrade, Sherlock Holmes, OCs
Pairings: Mycroft Holmes/Anthea, background Sherlock Holmes/Molly Hooper
When I Started: August 29th, 2015
How I Lost My Shit: While I tend to write a metric ton of ships in the Sherlock fandom, my Mythea fics are popular but not often requested, and no one really asked for updates on this one so it stagnated about a year after I started it. I’d see it in my files to finish but had no motivation.
How I Finished My Shit: The combination of my New Year’s resolution to finish a ton of fics this year as well as the idea to turn it into a series, as when I dug into my Tumblr inbox I saw a bunch of old domestic Mythea + baby prompts I could use. Once I made the decision to cut it off at a point where I could continue it in other stories to answer the prompts, it flowed out pretty quickly and was finished in the first week of the Bang.
