Story Title: fooled heart

Summary: After Crait, Rey is ready to ignore the Force bond and its consequences, but the Force has other ideas. She can't deny the pull of her fated partner across the galaxy, especially when the First Order still holds dominion. She and Ben are caught in the tangle of the past and the galaxy's unhealed wounds and Mustafar does not want to let them go.

When I Started: This was originally intended for the 2021 Reylo Fanfiction Anthology, where the theme was a celebration of the previous five anthologies. I outlined it to include each of the previous themes as well as a couple of my favorite head canons and ties to another important fandom to me, to mark the anthology's anniversary.
How I Lost My Shit: I worked right to the end of the due date and past it to try to get this done. I was one of very few people to have submitted a piece for every other RFFA project, and not finishing this in time without a backup in place was a little devastating. I cared about this piece a lot, but trying to care for it while also modding and dealing with rl ended up failing on all counts. When the last chance deadline passed, I was too upset to keep working on it, so it got left in the wip folder.
How I Finished My Shit: This one didn't have to wait too long, because it never really left my head. It has a lot of aspects about it that appeal to me as a writer, and it was important to me to finish eventually. It was a struggle, because it ended up longer than expected. (The final chapter ended up cut in two after it went over 10k) It ended up being a matter of pushing through on this one, and I'm so happy to have it done, especially with an ending I like.
